As you know--May Day is a day to celebrate the birth of the first blossoms of spring and to ensure a plentiful harvest for the growing season. It is the opposite of the harvest and seasonal calender.
Since I live on a farm--we will place a May Pole from one of our trees to bless our land for a bountiful harvest season.
So, in order to answer your question--Yes--We look forward to Beltaine--every year!

how do the toiling masses in the USA celebrate MAY DAY?
To the degree that it is celebrated in the United States at all it is celebrated as a religious and not a political day. Wiccans and other pagans in celebrate the day and it is often referred to as Beltaine. But, I want to emphasize this has NOTHING to do with politics.
