you could get into the belmont stakes by paying at the gate, I do it every year. the general admission tickets will get you a seat in the grandstand. i was also at the smarty jones belmont and when the stakes race started everyone from the picnic area rushed towards the track. you know the bottom level without seats. i had to literally jump on top of people to see the action and i could only see it every time i jumped. if i go this year i want to buy a grandstand ticket online so i could watch from the second or third level in a seat and really see the race.
