birth control - what day of the placebo pills do you normally get your period?

Most birth control pills contain 3 weeks of estrogen/progesterone combination pills and then a week of placebo pills that do not contain hormones and usually contain iron to help replace the iron that you will lose during your period as you bleed.

It is hard to say on which placebo pill day you will get your period since every woman's body is different. Some women experience their period the first placebo pill day and others the 2nd or 3rd. Either way, do not become worried if it takes your period longer to show up during the placebo week - however, be sure to make an appointment right away if your period does not come at all and you are sexually active as this could signal a possible pregnancy.

You should get your period within the first 4 placebo pills day as this is the norm for most women. However, remember that it is different for everyone and that starting up on birth control means it may change slightly from month to month as your body readjusts to the hormones.

You should be okay...I copy/pasted this from plannedparenthood.org :-)

Combination Pills

You may start the combination pill at any time. If you start within five days after the start of your period, you are protected against pregnancy right away. You will not need to use a backup method of birth control. That means that if your period starts on a Wednesday morning, you can start the pill up to Monday morning to be protected right away. If you start at any other time during your menstrual cycle, you will be protected from pregnancy after seven days. Use another method of birth control — like a condom, female condom, diaphragm, or sponge — if you have vaginal intercourse during the first week of use.

Progestin-Only Pills

You may start the progestin-only pill at any time. Use another method of birth control if you have vaginal intercourse during the first 48 hours of progestin-pill use — protection will begin after two days.

Taking the progestin-only pill at the same time each day is essential. If you take it more than three hours past the regular time, you need to use a backup method of birth control for 48 hours after taking the late pill.

birth control start day?

If you start 'any day' you have to use the birth control for a month before you are protected and will have to use an additional form of birth control if you plan on having sex.

If you start it the Sunday after your period starts, you will be protected immediately and every Sunday you will start a new row of pills.
