Jobs would be a renowned businessman, thought leader and visionary. He headed and dramatically changed numerous industries, and lead organisations from the like of Apple, Pixar and lots of other big names.Jobs died on October fifth, 2011, and Steve Jobs Day was established like a celebration of his existence and commemoration of his dying.

Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and the other guy with the cash started it.

All of those guys at that time had worked for different computer companies, so they had acquired the knowledge and technology from their previous work experiences. They just didn't decided to build "a computer" one day. It would be like someone who made and sold coffee and donuts every day for several years branching out on their own to start a new store.

That TV Movie, "Pirates of Silicon Valley" was entertaining but left out most of what had went on... including other companies and suppliers that were already around and provided some support and technology that they (apple) needed and used. Even Commodore Business Machines was involved in the success of Atari (the console crap & the home computers) and Apple. Commodore owned a company that made all the IC chips (the CPUs, memory, etc). They designed the CPUs that all of these home computer companies used, as well as all the console machines at the time.

What are Dave Tango & Steve Gonsalves day jobs?

I don't think they have day jobs. I'm pretty sure they all make enough money from doing the show that they wouldn't even need day jobs. I guess you could count appearing at events and doing public investigations a day job?

Also, Jay and Grant still own a Roto Rooter, but I'm sure they have employees and don't actually do any plumbing themselves these days. Plus they write books, sell merch, operate a hotel, and have a number of other things that would give them a steady income.
