Conflict/Resolution program?

It sounds like you may want to consider a peer mediation conflict resolution program. The most important aspect of implementing it successfully will be having the students "buy in" to it and feel that they are a part of it. If you can identify some of the leaders in terms of problems with racial issues and get them onside, you will have a good start.

You might want to look at cooperative learning and cooperative discipline material as well. They will go well hand-in-hand with conflict resolution work.

Do you have a counselor involved? S/he would be a key person in this implementation as s/he should have the skills to get the process off the ground.

Identify mentors in the community who could possibly get involved. You may want to consider special training for your teachers and students who will take the lead. They may need that training to have the confidence and skills to be effective with such an important and challenging task.

Your question is a big one, and this answer may have all the information you need, but I hope it is of some help. Best of luck.

Institutions and conflict resolution?

Institutions and conflict resolution?

Well, it depends on how you mean this question. There are over 200 universities in the United States that offer dispute resolution programs for their students, either through degree programs or certificate programs.

More and more, dispute resolution is becoming a day to day activity employed by corporations as well. Many human resources and business degrees now offer courses in conflict resolution.

Just last month in google there were over 200,000 searches on conflict resolution.

Areas that employ conflict resolution practices are human resources, education, insurance, labor and unions, environmental and family law.

There are several different models and approaches to conflict resolution, either through mediation, interests based bargaining or transformative.

The most important part is that it is slowly becoming a practice that organizations and universities are seeing value in using for their students and employees. Too many disputes end up in litigation and people are seeking other options for resolution.

what is Non violent conflict resolution & hwo do you relate your self to it??

what is Non violent conflict resolution & hwo do you relate your self to it??

Non-violent conflict resolution is for most a matter of pushing the violence off on somebody else and instead of direct confrontation fighting by proxy. Non-violent conflicts tend to simmer for long periods of time. Often esculating far above the actual causations because of the tit for tat bickering and posturing. To be good at non-violent confrontation one must be a good manipulator and politician.

I personally abhor non-violent conflict resolution. You have a problem you speak your mind. It might result in a fist fight then the problem is solved and forgotten. Non-violent confrontation means having people attempt to turn your friends against you, attempts to socially isolate you. Attempts to damage other interests, hobbies and even in some cases attacks on your very home/work/family life. Give me a broken nose any day. It heals in a couple weeks. Losing a close friend over a lie never heals.
