Sesame Street isn't off the air. It's broadcast on PBS every day, and they are even producing/ showing new episodes. While it's not as good of a show as it was in the 70's at all, it's still better than a lot of kids programming out there.

The reason why it isn't as popular as it was back i the day is because back in the 70's, the only channel that showed or produced educational programming were the PBS stations. Shows like Sesame Street, The Elecrtic Company, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, were popular, and there were only a dozen or so shows to choose from.

Now, thanks to cable, there are many tv networks specifically for kids such as PBS, Noggin, Discovery Kids, TLC Kids, Nickelodeon, etc and there are hundreds of show to choose from. Therefore, the selection is greater, and more shows are hugely popular too.

I'm angry at the fact that every show for a toddler teaches Spanish. If I went to Mexico, nobody would say, OK, lets all learn English because she's here.

Instead of TV time, we have book time and go on day trips to the zoo.

In regards to Cookie Monster, I don't think he causes obesity. I think its parents fault, not knowing when to say no. Teach portion control and that goodies are once in a while thing instead.
