Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, and all that stuff... but Sunday comes, and they just shut down.

The predominant day of worship in the USA, the country in which the US Postal Service does most of its business, is Sunday.

Sunday is also the day on which most of the USPS's business clients are closed and unavailable to receive mail and packages, so if the Postal Service is going to give its employees one guaranteed day off to spend time with their families and enjoy themselves, it makes sense to make it Sunday.

Lighten up a little.

PS: Some additional details for you:

* Yes, a business can give employees a day off without closing. But choosing one SPECIFIC day to ALWAYS be closed means that those employees know year-round what day they're free.

* Most of the USPS's business comes from business and 2nd-thru-4th-class mail; the coupons and junk you throw out. If it wasn't for that revenue you'd be paying $5 to mail a letter. So in terms of revenue, very few customers do business on Sunday.

* You can't go to most banks on Sundays either. Are you going to chalk that one up to the neo-Zionist order?

You're just confusing Chick-fil-a with the rest of the world.

Will the rain be a deterrent to celebrating Valentine’s Day?

Will the rain be a deterrent to celebrating Valentine's Day?

no no no!!! people in love are like postman. they have time-honored slogan "Neither rain nor snow."

or like people in showbiz "The show must go on."

Will my shipment be delayed?

Will my shipment be delayed?

That old saying about the Post Office, "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night" isn't really true. If it's snowing hard enough they're not coming. The same holds true for UPS and FEDEX.

You've probably seen the ads about "FEDEX GUARANTEED NEXT DAY ON TIME DELIVERY". Here's the fine print:

If the failure to meet the scheduled delivery commitment is caused by the Carrier providing protection from freezing service or events beyond Carrier's control, including, but not limited to, acts of God; acts or omissions of public authority; riots, strikes or labor disputes, including those of third parties; government regulations, orders or requirements; disruption in ground transportation as a result of weather or other causes; acts of public enemies or acts of terrorism; disruption or failure of communications or information systems; or acts or omissions of Shipper, Consignee or Owner of goods or any person or entity other than Carrier, the additional upcharge amounts as stated in paragraph 5 of this Item 756 will not be assessed, but the Standard Charges will apply.

Besides, if the forecast is for a high of 25 with snow is it really that important that your golf clubs arrive on time?
