Penguins are one of the toughest animals in the world. They may look cute & cuddly but they fight harder than any of us every day to survive & continue their species. I don't know if I'm cut out to be a penguin... I'm too lazy, weak & not motivated enough

As for seals, it depends on what kind of seal. I wouldn't mind being one of those fat, lazy seals lying around at the beach, just chilling & enjoying the sun.

Where, if at all possible, can you pet or feed a penguin in California?

Check the website for Sea World in San Diego, and also any zoos or aquariums that have penguin exhibits, to see if they offer a "penguin encounter".

The Mystic Marinelife Aquarium in Mystic CT does offer this; it's a very small group, maybe 6 people, only offered once a day. My son has been a penguin fanatic since second grade, and a couple of years ago I splurged and bought him a penguin encounter. The penguin went from person to person and hopped into their lap.

Right after it left my son's lap, he told me, it hopped into the lap of the woman next to him. And promptly pooped all over her expensive designer jeans!
