My Trip to Melbourne -if you have been to Melb please help!?

Hiya Charlie..

Many of the things on your to do list are in a close proximity to one another, so it would really depend on how much time you wanted to spend at each place.

Dandenong market is WAY out of CBD, and in my opinion, not worth travelling to as its basically a smaller version of the Queen Vic market, and as mentioned, a fair way away. (about 40 minutes from the city.)

Also, the Grand Prix track at this time of the year is just a regular road which surrounds Albert Park Lake... its a nice place to go for a walk or a picnic, but other than that, its not set up like a race track (unless of course you encounter the odd Mark Webber or Michael Schumacher wannabe taking their chances at avoiding the speed cameras! lol)

If you were planning on going to DFO's, then Docklands would be a great place to stop to have some lunch and rest your feet before continuing with more shopping. (you could easily spend many hours there)

Southgate promenade, the Crown complex, Polly woodside and soutbank artistic centre are all within walking distance from one another. ( Eureka tower and experiencing the glass cube which suspends you 3 metres out of the building is also a great experience!) Depending on your interests of course, but for me the Pollywoodside is something that I wouldnt particularly go out of my way to see.)

The Exhibition buildings and museum are located at the top end of the city... you could walk there, however catching a tram would probably be a better option, stopping at Melbourne Central either on your way, or on your return trip.

Federation Square, the Arts Centre, gallery and the botanical gardens are all close to one another, and if you get the time, the Shrine of Remembrance is definitely worthwhile visiting. Also check out Hoisier Lane, and be sure to stop off at Movidas and have a carafe of Sangria...the best I have EVER drunk!!

If you are going as far as the Westgate bridge, I highly recommend visiting St.Kilda and Williamstown if time prevails. Not sure what days you will be here, but if you can get to St.Kilda on a sunday, you will also bonus the famous Esplanade market.(brilliant market!!!) Luna Park and a street lined with continental cake shops, cafes, and funky shops are also what you will find here, and a whole day could easily be spent there.

Hope you have a great time in Melbourne...feel free to email me if you have any questions :)

This might help you to get around..
