the color blue is because he represents depression
(just as tigger is a symbol of anxiety (though I question if he isnt supposed to be mania)
eeyore, however really is about clinical depression
and anytime you see someone who is fond enough of him to have gotten a little stuffed toy eeyore to hang on their rear view mirror, you can bet your last ten bucks they are a depression patient
(I tried to find you a youtube of the episode about Eeyore's Birthday...its hilarious..he says in the most depressed monotone voice youve ever heard that "it's my birthday, the happiest day of the year"...and he's floating down the river on his back and doesnt care
(when asked how he ended up in the water, its revealed that manic Tigger "bounced" him in)
then all the others put on a birthday for eeyore, and by the end its touching (in a pathetic but funny way)

What's best way to meet people in Austin, Texas?
Well, there are various online communities--have you considered maybe LiveJournal or Meetup to begin with? We have so many coffeehouses, pubs, bars, music venues and public events like Eeyore's Birthday Party where just hanging out and chatting with people is commonly done. Do you have particular interests or hobbies that you could do with other people? Perhaps an intellectual discussion forum at the Alamo Drafthouse's Dionysium. A day of art appreciation at the Blanton Museum. A silly fun tour on the Austin Duck Adventures, or a ghost tour. Perhaps a hike or jog around Lady Bird Lake. It's pretty hard *not* to meet people around here!
