Is there any place to find a list of "different" holidays?
egreetings.com has a huge list with e-cards to send - most days have something ... in January, Thursday 25th was Booty Call Day, Saturday 27th is Thomas Crapper Day, Wednesday 31st is Hell Is Freezing Over Day, we have just finished Kiss A Shark Week and are now in Thank Your Butcher Week.
i would like to go to colombia in december january for two weeks with hubby and my my two girls?
you will love colombia, i recomend to learn the basic words in spanish, usually young people talk english (all my friends do) and they will LOVE to help a turist, to show colombia´s real face, not what people think ;) my mom is colombian, (german dad) but we used to live in spain, and years ago when i was lik 12 she said i had to spend 2 months and all the summers until i graduated, i had never been there and honestly i had the image evryone has. but it changed a lot, i loved it, i found a country where 99% of people is good, harworking honest and dont grow cocaine ;) the funniest, nicest and happiest people ever, nature but modern cities.. every weather on earth, from snow to desert! colombia is such a great experience, so enjoy every sigle second as long as you stay there, dont believe what you see on the news, their culture? AMAZING, they LOVE to dance, drink aguardiente (national alholic drink) wich is really nice and strong, i recomend it, i got drunk last night with that haha ;) you have to take the normal precautions and yall be fine. TOP PLACES:
bogota: monserrate, la candelaria, la catedral, gold museum, planearium, go to a theater play in teatro colon, casa de nariño, casa del florero de llorente, zona rosa, andres carne de res DC, this is the best club in town, ii's just huge, has like five floors and party goes until like 7 am, you HAVE to go, its very safe, i've walk out of there at 5 am drunk and its ok! but avoid doing that, maybe im just lucky.. i recomend for you to try everything when it comes to food, there are fancy expensive restaurants and typical restaurant, i recomend crepes & waffles, its cheao, fast, and its real food, not mcdonalds, the weather is cold.. sometimes very cold, so.. and tell your hubby to buy you the best emeralds in the planet!! ;)
medeellin, es famous for its women, also called the city of the everlasting spring, in christmas they put specatcular lights, there is parque lleras and the ¨bandeja paisaa!!¨ have to eat bandeja paisaa! ademas el guaroo! (national alcoholic drink) you get drunk easily with that o be careful, but try it!
there is also ¨la feria de las flores¨ the second biggest fair in colombia, its with flowers.. nice.
-if you want some jungle i recomend to go to ¨leticia¨ a city in the heart of the amazon, so you can reach the jungle very easily, its by at the corner, its such a great experience, you can stay in the jungle if you want, there are good affordable hotels there.. there you can see and touch some exotic plants, animals, food, and natives, also se the largest and most plentiful river in the world... years ago they let taking a titi monkey with you (google it please if you dont know what it is) but not now, i actually had one as a pet when i was growing up, REALLY cute, but you can still touch them and have them if you hands, there are other native animals that you wont see anywhere esle, such as pink dolfins.. and several frons and weird things.
-cali, ¨ cali, pachanguero¨ , ¨ la sucursal del cielo¨, ¨ world salsa capital¨ you dance salsa, merengue, latin dances and there are several thing to see to, you can go to ¨ lago calima¨ near cali.
bucaramanga, you can go to la mesa de los santos, al cañon del chicamocha (a natural marvell, the worlds second biggest canion on earth) y and there are xtreme sports.
-in el eje cafetero (triangle of coffe), you can go to parque nacional de el cafe, stay in a hotel hacienda, see the best coffe plantations in the world, see where the colombian coffe is,buy the best coffe ever there and cheap as a dolar, they can make the best tasting coffe in the world right in front of you face for you.
-if you want beach: cartagena, not only beach but colonial architecture , all the historic center, heritage of humanity, el castillo de san felipe (castle of san felipe), fancy romantic restaurants and tyoical delicious foods, and las islas del rosario, baru or playa blanca.
there is also santa marta, you can find beautiful beachess, el parque tayrona, and in the sierra nevada de santa marta, cuidad perdida, ¨sierra neada de santa marta¨is the world's only mountain in front of the beach with snow! reaaally nice.
San andres island are to di for.. those beaches!! and the whole food of the region is super good, i recomend arepaehuevo, canimañola, melcocha, diablolines, jugo de corozo, boyo de mazorca, boyo limpio, cheese empanadas, meat empanadas, deditos de queso... EVERYTHING IS NICE!
you have to try aguardiente, dont beilve what people say and enjoy the ride! ;)
they have always a concert, even, cannirval, festivall, fair.. every fckn day of the year.. so you will never get bored.. ;)
