On special days, the anniversaries of the liberation of a Nazi murder camp, the survivors and relatives attend special gatherings to mourn their lost ones. It os an offence deny the holocaust in Germany, obviously no one there ever mentions it, they are too ashamed.

The family was transported to Westerbork, a transit camp in The Netherlands, and from there to Auschwitz in German-occupied Poland on September 3, 1944, on the last transport to leave Westerbork for Auschwitz. Anne and her sister Margot were transferred to Bergen-Belsen the following month. Anne's mother died in early January, just before the evacuation of Auschwitz on January 18, 1945. Both Anne and Margot died in a typhus epidemic in March 1945, only weeks before the liberation of Bergen-Belsen. Otto Frank was found hospitalized at Auschwitz when it was liberated by Russian troops on January 27, 1945.
Should more effort be taken to commemorate Holocaust Memorial day?
Much better to have a memorial day for all those that have suffered under the hands of a tyrannious and oppressive government or dictatorship, regardless of ethnicity or religion. This will mean that there will be barely a country without blood on its hands for past events. If all is fair in love and war, then all should be fair in rememberence of victims of past suffering.
There have been numerous films made and books written about the holocaust. How many films are there on the people that suffered under the hands of Stalin, or The Crusades. How many hollywood films are there on Guantamino Bay? Can you imagine a film (to hit mainstream cinemas) about the Arab-Israeli conflict from the point of view of a Palestinian?
