Vesak (Buddha Day) ?

hey i'm a buddhist and i will answer your question...

this year it is May 8th. usually in vesak, we do a lot of fun things and religeos things.. we have these coloured paper buckets, we light a candle inside these buckets and hang them on trees.. so if u go around the city in vesak, u will find the whole city lighted with coloured buckets.. and we also make these huge things with coloured paper and fix motors in them so they turn and many more stuff... they are called vesak lanterns.. search google for pics.. and on vesak day we all visit buddhist temples... and we also do this thing called vesak dansal (only sri lankan buddhists do that), we cook a lot of food ar drinks and serve them to the people in the street (for free we even stop cars that are on the street and serve them.....then your nxt question, usually buddhists wear white dresses when they visit a buddhist temple... and there is no specific food that we eat on that day.. its mainly the national food of that country that we eat on tht day...but if you want some(sri lankan), we eat KIRI BATH (milk rice) and KAWUM (its a sweet) on special occassions... and there is no vesak songs... vesak is honestly for me is the best day of the year.. because as i said before, its a lot of fun and you really feel the spirit of buddhism...w/e... hehe... nyways hope this helps... sorry if it's too long... and if u need anything else e-mail me on harindra_317@hotmail.com

who designed indian national tri colour flag?

who designed indian national tri colour flag?

The Indian National Flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya.

Pingali Venkayya (August 2, 1876 - July 4, 1963) was the designer of the Indian national flag. He was born in Bhatlapenumarru, near Masulipatnam or the present day Machilipatnam of Andhra Pradesh, India. After high school at Masulipatnam, he went to Colombo to complete his Senior Cambridge. On returning to India, he worked as a railway guard, then as a government employee at Bellary, and later moved to Lahore to join the Anglo-Vedic college to study Urdu and Japanese.

From 1906 to 1911, Pingali spent most of his time researching staple varieties of crops and came up with a study on a special variety called Cambodia Cotton. With the British colonial rulers taking notice of his study, Pingali came to be known as Patti Venkayya (literally 'Cotton Venkayya').

Returning to Masulipatnam, he spent 5 years from 1916 to 1921 researching flags of 30 countries and finally came up with the present tricolor. However, the flag of the Vande Mataram movement is sometimes thought to be the antecedent of Venkayya's tricolor. He was a great follower of Mahatma Gandhi

So, how are you Celebrating James Earl Ray Day...?

So, how are you Celebrating James Earl Ray Day...?

@ Ms. Minerva & Clo

I think what we should be asking is 'Who are ther REAL racists today?' Consider this: There is the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), the UNCF (United Negro college fund), Kwanzaa, BET (black entertainment television), another I recently saw black people meet (some phone chat thing), and there is a thousand more examples, but to get to the point I'll keep the list short.

Now your probably thinking 'Well, so what? Whats wrong with those things?' They are racist thats what! "why?' you ask. Take the above examples that you think are just fine and dandy, and replace the word 'black' with 'white', and you will get this:

National Association for the Advancement of White People

United Caucasian College Fund

White Entertainment Television

White people Meet chat line

If someone did those things, they would instantly be called racist! But somehow, its ok for black people to celebrate their race, but not white people? If blacks do it, its empowering, and if whites do it its racist?

Kwanzaa is a racist religion. I doubt many white people even realize it because I have seen white people celebrating it.

----------------------

Kwanzaa celebrates what its founder called the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or Nguzo Saba (originally Nguzu Saba—the seven principles of blackness)

During the early years of Kwanzaa, Karenga said that it was meant to be an alternative to Christmas, that Jesus was psychotic, and that Christianity was a white religion that black people should shun [7]

And a couple of other things some people might want to know: Africans enslaved each other 500 years before a caucasian ever did. You might want to read up on slavery aswell, the first slaves bought by caucasians were sold by blacks!! Because they were already enslaving their own people, and not in a nice way either. They would raid another village, kill most of the men, and rape the women to bear them sons. Children were usually killed so they couldnt grow up and seek revenge, but sometimes they were left to die of exposure. It was only much later that caucasians dicided that with superior technology they could just stop paying, and take instead. Furthermore, in the middle east there was a slave caste for about 1000 years, and it was not all bad for them like you may think.

There was a movement last year, I forget what they called it, but it got national news for about a week. Some black businessmen were calling on black people to only shop at stores that were black owned and operated. Take the flip side, what if white people called on white people to only shop at stores that were white owned and operated? Black people would call them the Klan. But there was NO mention of racism when the news stories ran. Why? Because white people dont want to be called racist, wether its true or not, its not politically correct, so black people continue to use the 'R' word as a Sword AND Shield simultaneously, to attack and defend as they see fit for personal gain. You however do your race an injustice.

A couple of years ago Bill Cosby made a statement I will paraphrase "That black people should stop blaming white people for their problems, that they should work hard, get educated, and take responsibility for their own lives" Oh there was an uproar from the black community! Because blacks want to continue to use slavery against white people for personal gain.

If you dont think the trans-atlantic slave trade didnt benefit africans, then just compare the average black that lives in public housing, to the average poor african family. You will find that your wealth is between 100 to 500 times their wealth! Blacks, like everyone else in this country benefited from slavery, so if all this is so bad, and you want to wear african continent symbols around your necks, why for the love of god dont you just go live there? Seriously? I'm not making a joke, Its right across the pond, 300 flights a day!

Now your probably thinking 'This is just some ignorant redneck, who grew up in a racist family, and it was just passed along from one generation to another' WRONG! I didnt grow up racist, in fact I was part of the first desegregation in my city. I was bussed accross town to go to all black schools where I was picked on, and bullyied by black people. When I heard people making racist comments when I was younger I used to get so made my face would get red, but still I was not racist.

But we all grow up, and see the world as it really exists, multiple unprovoked racist hate crimes against me by blacks. Being treated as a racist by blacks when I was not one, and blacks being racist toward me, has tempered my views. I say, if people are going to call me a racist because I'
