can you tell me interesting facts about birds?
According to the International Ornithological Congress, there are approximately 10,448 species of birds in the world. Birds are described as feathered organisms, that have beaks and bodies that range in different sizes, shapes and colors.
There are many categories of birds:
Albatrosses and petrels
This is a group of seabirds includes albatrosses, fulmars, prions, shearwaters, storm-petrels and diving petrels. They are also called tubenoses, which are pelagic birds that spend long periods of time foraging over the open ocean. There are 107 species of tubenoses. Examples include pelicans and seagulls.
Birds of Prey
Also know as raptors, they are carnivorous predators with sharp talons, short hooked, and excellent eyesight. They generally have broad wings for soaring. They hunt during the day and feed on small mammals and fish. This group includes 304 species such as eagles, hawks, and falcons.
Buttonquail
They have 3 toes with no hindtoe. The resemble quails (also noting the word is in the group name) but are not related to them. The inhabit grasslands, scrublands, and croplands. There are 15 species.
Cassowaries and Emus
This is a group of large, flightless birds. Only 4 species. They have tiny wings that are too weak to lift the body. The feathers become shaggy and almost resembles fur. They are found in grasslands.
Cranes, Coots and Rails
Consists of 199 species and generally have short tails, long necks and rounded wings. some species are known to be 5 feet tall. The live in wetlands mostly.
Cuckoos and Turacos
There are 161 species. They are noted for their bulky body, small head, short head and broad wings. Cuckoos are the dull colored birds while Turacos have bright colored feathers. They spread world-wide but are restricted to sub- Saharan Africa.
Flamingos
These birds are pink because of their rich protein diet which is of shimp and algae. The are found in large flocks and are tropical birds. This group as 5 species.
Gamebirds
Ground- dwelling birds such as chickens, turkey, and peacocks. This includes 287 species. They have strong feet for scratching the group for food.

Anyone know a good irish bar to go to in Sao Paulo on St Patricks Day?
There was a group of translators and EFL teachers who used to go to Finnegan's as they regularly had cultural events. Details follow, and of other two Irish pubs as well. But once St. Patrick's is past, keep making Brazilian friends, learning the language and their ways. I know many people from the UK who isolated themselves in circles of British people (which is even more limiting than English-speaking) and never got to live the real Brazilian experience and fully understand the culture.
