World Vegan Day

Vegan Day first happened on November first, 1994 as a means of commemorating the 50th anniversary from the United kingdom Vegan Society and even the word “Vegan”. The Vegan Society was established in November of 1944 even though the exact date was unknown. The Leader from the Vegan Society made the decision to elect the date from the first of November. This really is now recognised because the date which the Vegan Society began as well as on which Vegan Day could be observed.Together with honoring the beginning of the Vegan Society, Vegan Day is definitely an chance to advertise the advantages of a vegan diet and veganism generally. The word Vegan was created by Jesse Watson and produced from the term Vegetarian. In those days, the differentiation was that Vegans didn't consume milk products. Later this extended to eggs, by 1951, veganism became a movement of people that didn't take part in the exploitation of creatures.Every year you will find numerous festivals and displays held all over the world by vegan communities. Additionally, you will find many local occasions, talks and cooking demos organised by people.

World Vegan Day?

Where I live, on the first Thursday of every month, a local restaurant gives 10 percent of its check to a local animal rights organization. So I'm eating there with a bunch of vegan friends, as I do most months.

If one day the whole world goes vegan, what will happen with the cows, pigs, chicken, etc?

If one day the whole world goes vegan, what will happen with the cows, pigs, chicken, etc?

The way to think about this is in comparison with horses.

When cars became standard, people didn't need horse-drawn carriages anymore. The demand for horses plummeted. In today's world, no one "needs" a horse like they did when they used horse-drawn carriages to get around. However, this doesn't mean horses went extinct. Many people keep horses because we love them as animals and enjoy having them around, not because we need to use them for something.

I think the same can be said of the animals we currently murder to make food. If we lived in a vegan world, the demand for meat would plummet. This doesn't mean that cows, pigs, and chickens would be extinct. Rather, we'd stop breeding them so intensively. Like horses, some people would keep them because they love them and not because they intend to use them for something.
