nervous about first day of college?

Being nervous is all about willpower. Or technically a lackthereof. Wear your best clothes and pretend you're the most interesting man in the world. Simply pretend youre not nervous and you won't be. It's like imagining people in their underwear. They tell speech givers that for a reason, because it demoralizes the audience to a level where the speech giver has power over them, and therefore no need to be nervous. I'd you saunter into class like you own the place, have confidence in yourself and power in your mind then there isn't any reason to be nervous.

What is there to be afraid of? Nothing bad is going to happen, so don't try to anticipate negative stimulus (the basic definition of nervousness) and instead just have a positive attitude. College is fun. Pretty girls are A LOT OF FUN . Make friends, make "acquaintances" with those pretty girls and just have fun. Life is too short be so serious all the time and nerves get in the way of having fun. It's all going to worm out ok.

And I always tell nervous people this in college. What's the worst thing that can happen? Seriously. Sit tonight, and imagine yourself going through the most embassing this imaginable. Then, remember one thing, eventually you'll be done with that class, move on to another, and it won't matter any more anyway.

Can somebody help me with a poem called Eden is that Old-Fashioned House?

Can somebody help me with a poem called Eden is that Old-Fashioned House?

"eden" refers to the biblical paradise, i presume, "old-fashioned" in a way that makes it an odd notion for our modern world, and we leave our paradise daily to go about our modern world, not giving what we are leaving, a second thought.

"fair", (meaning nice, or lovely, i think) how nice to look back and remember how it was before we "sauntered" (boldly, bravely) left "eden" and unaware, we return expecting things to be the way they were when we left, but can't find (peace? contentment?) there anymore.

does Emily mean that the world has changed us and that home can never be the same? or do we bring the world back with us and destroy eden as the snake did when he tempted Eve?

Here's the bulletin: When you get to the level of governor or U.S. senator -- let alone president -- you are out-of-touch. Oh, sure, every now and again Queen Victoria saunters out from her carriage and mingles with the hoi polloi. But then it's back to a world of power and celebrity. It's a world where people constantly kiss your rear. It's a world of dining out most days and nights, drivers, handlers, people to carry your luggage, pack your clothes, do your shopping, walk your dogs, make travel arrangements, arrange your schedule, remind you when to remember birthdays, anniversaries and your children's names. Despite the world-weary look on the faces of so many politicians, they live in a world of abbreviated workweeks, with staffers to do the boring grunt stuff. Why do you think they want to be re-elected...
