World Humanitarian Day

Humanitarian Day is devoted to raising awareness from the work carried out by humanitarian organisations, and also the huge challenge they face we along with honouring the lives and dedication of individuals who’ve lost their resides in humanitarian causes. Think about using this very day to provide your support to humanitarian employees, who make an effort to stop human suffering wherever it's found, by giving to, joining or supporting a nearby or global humanitarian organisation.

And what do you think of the Seventh Day Adventist Church?

I am a Seventh day Adventist and I hope I can help. The answers so far are not giving a balanced picture.

First and foremost we are a Christ centred church and a worldwide Gospel preaching church.

With Christ at the centre of our teachings we desire to follow Him. The Commandments of God are eternal and God never changes. His law shows us we are transgressors of it and need a Saviour and thats the good news! Christ became the sacrrifice so that we no longer have to work for our Salvation. Many call our church legalist because we uphold Gods law. Well they may have the wrong angle there...we do not claim that keeping the law saves us...onl Christ saves us. We simply obey His words, 'If you love me keep my Commandments'.

The Sabbath is at the heart of Gods law and its only one but evidently a strong characteristic of our denomination as we feature it in our church name.

We are a humanitarian church, having many disaster relief centres accross the globe. ADRA the disaster and relief agency has a high profile presence in many developing countries. We attend to the sick in our hundreds of hospitals around the world, we have well respected educational bodies from kindergarten to Univeristies, publishing centres and media coverage via Radio programmes and Satelite transmitting the Bible messages of te Gospel to outlying areas of the world aswell as high profile media websites and study programmes.

The church focusses on the future aswell as the the past history of mankind and prophecy has been given in scripture to be revealed. It is not a closed book. Throughout history God has risen up a people in every age to carry forward truths that are forgotten or reveal new insights to scripture that was not understood. We believ our church is one of those denominations to proclaim the Second coming of Christ as being soon.

We also have a leading health ministry where we encourage a good diet and longevity is seen in our members but this is not a worldwide focus, its often changed depending on culture but vegetariansm is a large portion of that message.

We are trinitarian, we believe in the pre existence of Christ and that Christ was not created but was one with the Father and the Spirit from eternity past to eternity future.

We baptise in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit through the full body imersion of water.

We belief death is a sleep, a state where the body decays and there is no conciousness of the persons mind. The soul does not exist apart from the body but that we are made living souls again at the resurrection where Christ Himself calls us from the grave. It is only then we enter Heaven and can stand in the presence of the Father fully perfected..

I have been a member of the church since my baptism into the family of God at the age of 13 but have never been disallusioned to believ the church was faultless. We are human with human failings and there have been scandals and heartaches and people have left for personal grievances.

There is no curch that does not suffer this....no church.

I believe the church upholds the word of God but we fail to reveal Christ in so many ways and while we are sinners we will always fall short, but we are God loving people who need loved and understood just as much as anyone. Forgiveness is a great healer, and I`m saddened to see some bitterness in one answer above.

Here is the world church website www.adventist.org for all the scripture refs for all doctrines.

www.amazing discoveries.org will also give you great insite into the media coverage of the church plus www.iiw.org.

Recently I am watching Discover prophecy by David Aschereck I thnk you can google him and see his videos that way....fascinating.

Anyway I hope this helps you get a better idea of what the church is, who we are and who we strive to reperesnt. Christ above all.

God Bless

Why is our world so currpot these days?

Why is our world so currpot these days?

Actually, what I think is that our world has been corrupt is some way since as far back as mankind has walked on this God given planet. But is just seems more obvious these days since people and society are getting smarter and wiser, while the corrupt still have almost no sense of morale.

This is coming from a 14 year old, so don't take my word for it...

Why Europeans are posing themselves like Most humanitarians of the world?

Why Europeans are posing themselves like Most humanitarians of the world?

:What was the original meaning of Varna in the Vedas?

Jathi and Kulam mean caste. You will not find these

words in the Vedas. Varna means Varnana (description).

It describes the four fold division of humans. We know

that humans are divided into four races: the

Indo-European race, the Mongoloid race, the African

race, and the aboriginal Australoid race. The

Indo-European race was called Brahmana Varna because

thay have the quest for higher knowledge. They have

texts on every aspect of knowledge, the other races do

not have as many. The Chinese and Japanes are

classified as Ksatriya because they have long histories

of Emperors. The Europe does not have it. The term

Vaisya was originally applied to farmers and cattle

raisers. The continent which has the largest number of

cattle is Africa. The longest river known in ancient

times was the Nile. It does not provide as many fertile

lands as Ganga.

With what ever narrow lands that Nile provides with

fertility, the Africans were the most efficient farmers

in ancient world to utilise the available resources.

Another word for Sudra is Misra Varna (mixed type). The

aboriginal Australians do not excell in any of the

former descriptions, and have a mixed mode of life.

The main meaning for Varna is colour. Can we give a

general classification for humans according to colour?

You must have observed it already. The Europeans are

white, the Chinese are yellow, the Africans are black,

and the Austreloids are mixed colour. That is the

meaning according to colour.

The Rig Veda says that for every Sloka in Rig Veda,

there are atleast five meanings. So, scholars should

look for more meanings of the word Varna.

One more interpretation can be given for it in terms of

'colour'. The organ of perception of colour is the eye.

The pineal gland in the brain is the third eye.

(B.F.Sergeev, Phisiology for Everyone, Mir Publishers,

Moscow, 1978, page 215). It is the seat of higher

knowledge according to the esoteric teachings of

medieval Europe. The ancient Sanskrit texts on Yoga and

Tantra also say the same thing. Its size among

Austreloids is smallest among humans, it is larger

among Africans, it is still larger among Mongoloids,

ans it is the largest of all among Indo-Europeans. In

classical Roman times and in modern times, the

Europeans produced the largest number of texts on the

widest range of topics.

The word 'human' was derived from Latin 'humanus' that

originatad from Sanskrit Manush (human) - the Latins

added an extra 'h' to make it suit their speech habits.

The Upanishads say that Manush (human) was so called

because he was gifted with Manas (superior mind). If

humans are the highest of creation, then Indo-Europeans

are the highest among humans according to the 'third

eye' classification.

What you have observed are charateristic features

of Kali Yuga or Iron age:

The Iron Age, humans must struggle to stay alive, when

the world is full of pain, discontent and vice. The

ancient Hindu texts say that people of Kali Yuga will

be filled with greed and selfishness. Inspite of these

features of darkness, the Europeans have done well,

comparatively speaking.

The Upanishad speak of an anology for the ages of man.

The dark age is likened to a tree which produces only

one seed. The tree gets destroyed gradually after

casting the seed in the ground. But the seed will

sprout soon to produce that big tree which died.

Inspite of voilence and large scale distrucion - the

negative traits influenced by dark age - they have

produced a lively seed which will produce a better

generation in future. The Indian astrologers predicted

that 70% of violence in the world will be brought under

control in about two decades from now.

"... there are still many bad things to happen to the

world but this is just a 'prelude' for a Golden Age to

come ... Humankind will then at last embrace the human

values of truth, peace, right conduct, non-violence and

love. Terrorism, global warming and problems that we

can only solve by working together may in face be the

'catalyst' that brings world peace."

If you leave the spirituality part of what Edgar Cayce

wrote on the future, you will realize that many of

his predictions have come true.

A new era of peace and enlightenment will follow the

tremendous earth changes - "A new order of conditions

is to arise; there must be a purging in high places as

well as low; and that there must be the greater

consideration of the individual, so that each soul

being his brother's keeper. Then certain circumstances

will arise in the political, the economic, and whole

relationships to which a leveling will occur or a

greater comprehension of the need for it."

OUTDATED NATION-STATES - They may soon evolve, though,

from the purely economic to political unions; as the

EEC evolved into the EU.

OPTIMISM REGAINED - Indeed, perhaps the most important

element, especially that arising from the technological

factors, is totally intangible. It is simply a mood,

but no less powerful for that. It is optimism about the

future; a belief that an ever better future will come

about.

Our technologically determined future is very bright.

We will live longer, with greater resources at our

command. How we live, though, may be very different. We

are likely to enter into a form of symbiosis with the

computer networks, and will make positive use of drugs

to enhance our performance and to enjoy life more; and

many of us will do this in space colonies. The future,

justifiably in this context, is a very optimistic one.
