In my area, 6 a.m., they show the preview of the Rose Parade.
8 a.m. - They showed the Rose Parade on T.V.
They were showing an encore of the Rose Parade the whole day. I was busy watching the USC vs. Michigan game and I did not want to wake up early in the morning to tape the Rose Parade. So I only caught 1 hour and 42 mintues without commercials.
When I record the Rose Parade at the end, I missed the Star Wars troopers and the USC cheerleaders and marching band. I recorded on the computer, but it only record the first 38 minutes and I was playing a game, the computer frozed on me. I did not catch the next half hour, so I continued to record the rose parade @ 8:06 p.m. PST to the end. I thought it was going to show the parade for three hours, but it ended 15 minutes early.

The Parade has been held every New Year's Day since, excepting when January 1 falls on a Sunday. In that case, the Tournament is held on the subsequent Monday, January 2. This exception was instituted in 1893. According to the Tournament of Roses Association Web site, this "Never on Sunday" policy was instituted in order "to avoid frightening horses tethered outside local churches and thus interfering with worship services." Thus, the Parade has never been held on a Sunday.
