Epitaph records and a band? Is it possible?

Let's start with the first step, finding a band.

Make sure the band is around the same age as you, and has the same goals as you; you guys really have to communicate about everything

To look for members post Ads in local music shops, see if your friends know any musicians and ask around your school.

Next you guys should start writing some songs.

It's best if you get the guitarist to lay down a riff or chord progression and you all just add your own stuff to it.. every process is different with a band, you guys will find what works for you.

If you can record sessions, that can also help, always have a pen and paper so you can write down lyrics, riffs etc.

Before you even think of getting signed or releasing a CD you need to start playing show and getting a fan base.

You won't get signed until the record label can see that there is demand for your music!

They also want to know that you guys are focused and experienced ... if your working hard to play tons of live shows, to perfect songs and to get your name out there.. then they know that you'll work just as hard with a record label.

Contrary to popular belief, record labels aren't there to help you START a fan base or to help you STARt playing live shows, and to teach you how to do things. They are there to give you the resources you need so you cna make them money.

Forget about the demos and all that shit.

The record labels will come for you if you got fans screaming for a record.. they'll see the money and they'll make the money. They've never failed to do it and they won't start now. simple as that.

Make sure your also have a strong realtionship with your fans.

50 fans that are at everyshow and always talking about your music is better then 1,000 fans that liked you just for the sake of liking you. Cause how many of those 300 fans are going to be at your shows and buying your CDS? none of them. But those 50 fans, they're gold. They'll eventully bring you to that 1k point.

YOU have to show them that your READY for those resources.

You need to show them that you can do this stuff on your own.

Book your own shows, get fans to come out, sell some merch when you have enough fans.

Most important of all, make sure your music is good! Before you get to into getting signed and making CDS - PERFECT your music. thats what its about right?

Anything is posssible, but you have to work shit hard.

Your question was really broad, and i'd love to give you more detail and really help you out step by step.

similiar artists to blink-182?

similiar artists to blink-182?

Look for J-Church, maybe Limp but they're very poppy, NO-FX obviously! Lagwagon, check out fat wreck & older epitaph compilations like punk-o-rama 1-5.
