Anyone taking their kids out of school to watch the inauguration?
My kids are off tomorrow, Inauguration Day, so it's not an issue for me. However, I would take the older 2 (11 and 9) out of school to watch it. We took the 2 out of school the day after they attended a night time rally for Obama in Kissimmee.
They were both into the whole election process since the Democratic primary race and made my husband and I to promise not to vote on Election Day until they could go with us.
This is a historic event for the country and, as such, should be treated as one. If they have showed an interest in the past, I would definitely take them out of school.
School is for learning, but real life is also a learning experience. There is no better way to instill civic duty and responsibility (voting) than having your children be a part of the process and to watch this historic event unfold on television.

“Oprah, did you hear what that man said?” said Aretha.
“Yes I did. He said, “Rely on God. It is just wonderful to see so many people witnessing to their faith out in public” Oprah replied.
“That’s not what I heard,” said Aretha. “He was just talking about our former President, and comparing his white hair to our new one. He was meaning, that President Bush was a Really Old Guy.”

Then Oprah and Aretha put on their gloves and "duked" it out.(2) The few slaps they got in, we more in play than anything else, and they did help to warm up the ladies. It stopped as Oprah noticed that her "longjohns" began to slip down her leg. (3)
“Girl, I am freezing my *** off! (4) We’ve got to get to a warmer place.”
I sure could use one of those Obama hand-warmers myself” Aretha added. “Oooh! Oooh! Walmart's having a half-price sale tomorrow (5) on all souvenirs. Hey, girlfriend, instead of arguing about what we think that man said, let’s just ask him.”
It was just then that Oprah noticed that the Secret Service agent bore an uncanny resemblance to James Arnes, (6) so much so that she asked him to be on her TV show.
“Uhhhhh.....that's a 'rog.'”(1 again) he said.
“Excuse me” said Oprah seeing her opportunity. What did you say?
“That’s a Roger” he replied.
