There is a chance your cat could come back on her own but it is best to look for her incase she can't. Sometimes, when cats move they try to find their old home. Try walking around and use a noise which is familiar to your cat, like calling her or shaking the dry cat food. Look everywhere where she could have gotten stuck, like in the garage or shed. Ask the neighbours to do the same. Sometimes a door is open, a cat enters and someone closes the door without realising the cat has entered. You could also leave notes in your neighbours letterboxes with your contact details and details of your cat. Put up posters in the area with a picture of your cat, details and offer a reward but do not say how much. Also take these posters to the vets in the area, to shopping centres (they usually have community notice boards) and a great place is the local schools. This is because children spend a lot of time playing outside and are the most likely to find a lost pet. An important thing to do is contact the local pound and any animal shelters. The best thing to do is visit personally, but ASAP as they do put animals down. Take a picture with you as they will need proof it is your pet if you do see your cat in there. Even if your cat is microchipped still go and have a look as sometimes microchips move and can be missed when scanned. You will also need to continually visit these places as just because your cat isn't there today, doesn't mean someone won't take her in tomorrow and you need to get your cat back before she is due to be put down. If you live in Australia the rues for the pound are like this. If a cat is microchipped they will keep the cat in there for 2 weeks. If someone wants to adopt the cat they need to request it but wait the two weeks in case the owner comes to reclaim it. If the cat is not microchipped, same thing happens but only for one week. Unfortuantely, if there are a lot of cats being bought in, and they are running out of space they will reduce the time, which is why it is important for you to go as often as possible. When you can't go, call, or if they have a website, look on the website daily. Also, they do admit that if they are busy they may not post a picture and description until later. Also, there are agencies which can help for a fee. There is 'Petsearch' which will post a picture and info of your cat on their website and they check all the databases of vets, pounds and animal shelters and will contact you with any that could be your cat. If you go to their website they will have links to other websites that also have stray and homeless animals. Just keep looking. The pound should also have links as well. The more you look, the better the chance of finding your cat. There is also 'Petfinders' that have different services. There is one where they will have a recorded message call everyone in a certain distance around your house, the bigger the area, the more it costs. When you visit their website, make sure you pick the country you are in. Also, check out any sites about missing pets. Soem allow you to post your cats info for free. Good luck and don't give up!
Chicago cat lovers~ National Feral Cat Day! Gather up the neighborhood strays =)?
I love you because you care for cats.I am the cats mother you know. My cat is desexed and I love him too. I have on many occaisions gone to the foreshore where I live and fed the feral cats much to the horrer of rich retirees who populate the best real estate in town overlooking[of course] the sea and foreshore and the great unwashed. Blast them I reckon. No one cares and I feel so sorry for them and I blast the owners who neglected to look after them in the first place..
