Mardi Gras?

Okay, Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday [in French] and it is the last day to eat before the fast that starts on Ash Wednesday [which is the day after].

The colors of Mardi Gras are purple, gold, and green. Purple is for religion. Gold is for money. Green is for luck. With the beads, they're kind of a like a good luck symbol, a way to make sure that these things stay with you for the following year. Any other colors are just a modern fad.

The modern Mardi Gras celebration is a bunch of parades and parties and an excuse for everyone to get drunk and see boobs. It used to mean something, but not so much anymore :(
