Lace Front Wig?

A lace front wig is a wig that is made on a lace base structure. The hair is handtied strand by strand in most cases and bleached at the roots to give the illusion that the hair is actually growing from the scalp. It is light weight and very natural. You may have it custom made by meauring your head in 6 angles, therefore it is made to fit YOUR head.

You attach the wig with an adhesive which gives you a hold any where from 3 days to weeks at a time depending on your activities. The adhesive goes around the perimeter of your head and not on your hairline.

Questions about wearing a lace wig??

Questions about wearing a lace wig??

NO. You do not get bald from wearing a lace wig if you apply the lace wig properly. The only area to be cautious about when applying/wearing lace wigs is your outer hairline. It's best to use a gentle water soluble glue when applying a lace wig (like "Safe Grip" or "Invisibond"). Even a stronger glue is okay (like "Walker Ultra Hold"). You should avoid putting the glue on your hair to preserve it's growth and just make sure you lace is cut to allow for enough grip to your skin ouside your hairline. Also use a brush for ease of glue application.

Lace wigs are worn by women who are trying to grow their hair out, that' why I wear one, and my hair has been growing like crazy.

It's better to invest in a good quality human hair lace wig, than to go to salons repeatedly and spend $75 & up on full & partial weaves or $120 & up on braids. On average weaves last about 2 weeks before they start to look worn and braids about 1-2 months. So do the math... just think of how much you really spend yearly on a weaves/braids only to throw the hair in the garbage. Plus, weaves and braids can do damage to your hair over time (damage to your hairline, thinning out your hair). A good quality lace wig will run you $$400 & up depending on the length (you don't want to spend less than that to be on the safe side.)

I purchased a lace wig and it's been about 7 months so far, I've washed it a few times and even colored it and it's still in great shape! The key is to follow the maintenance instructions. Where ever you decide to purchase your lace wig from, they will have the care instructions. A great link with info on lace wig maintenance is - - if you scroll down to topic #24 there's some instructions on how to maintain your lace wig. You can even have your lace wig professionally washed and groomed if you don't want to do it yourself.

I get so many compliments on my lace wig... people think it's my natural hair, and that's the whole point. Also, it's just so convenient... my real hair is cornrowed underneath and is growing out nicely. Depending on the adhesive, you can have a bond lasting anywhere from 2-5 days to 4-6 weeks.

I say invest in a lace wig. It's really worth it. Once you own one, you'll understand.
