Why is so much American music played during the Olympics?

they're playing american music is simply because english is the international language, so i guess that

i realized that they've been playing the same cd/songs for the past few beach volleyball games i've seen over the past 2 days. they're not only playing american music..they've also been playing chinese and south korean music...which i totally find really weird.

for swimming, the swimmers get to choose what song will be played if they come in 1st, which i find really neat. it gives people a chance to hear what kind of music these athletes listen to and it shows they are normal people too! a song from a very popular korean girl group was played when south korea's park tae hwan won gold for the men's 400m freestyle.
