Sledge Hammer workout burn fat more effective ?

Don't run. Running for fitness alone is bad.

Don't run for fitness alone. Run marathons if you compete and are willing to take the risk. But, don't run for fitness without a good reason because running is high impact and repetitive and that means risking problems if you run long distances for a long time. Running contributes to or causes shin splints, repetitive motion stress fractures, ACL strains or separations, plantar fasciiatis, early onset osteoarthritis, and much more. And, then there's this........

In this book --> ?… the coauthors make the following assertion.

"The scientific literature is filled with data that strongly make the case that long distance runners are much more likely to develop cardio-vascular disease, atrial fibrillation, cancer, liver and gallbladder disorders, muscle damage, kidney dysfunction (renal abnormalities), acute microthrombosis in the vascular system, brain damage, spinal degeneration, and germ-cell cancers than are their less active counterparts."

Each assertion is footnoted. They're making the point that most people have "cardio" all wrong and don't really understand how to train to be fit. Even the American Heart Assoc. is no longer recommending jogging but "brisk walking" instead and they've included strength training as a tool to improved cardio-vascular health.

And the problems continue...

Walking will burn more calories than the sledge. Burning calories is not about sweating and breathing hard, it's about moving a lot of weight over a long distance. And, the safest way to do that is to just walk or swim.

The key to fat loss is not exercise, it's diet.

Any exercise will burn calories but no exercise will burn fat unless your diet allows it. You can burn fat in your sleep or you can run all day and never burn any fat. It all depends on your diet.

Fat loss is determined by calorie control, not by exercise. Good exercises for burning calories are speed walking, biking, swimming, dancing, etc. and ANY other physical activity which makes you move a lot of weight for a long time. But NO exercise is good for burning fat if you eat too many calories because you can always eat more calories than you can burn but you can't always burn as many as you take in.

Too many people waste energy and time because they do not understand this one simple point. The result is too often giving up in frustration, abandoning gym memberships they continue to pay for, and many other unnecessary problems not the least of which is a lack of success.

An average person must walk about five miles every day for a week to burn the calories equivalent to a pound of body fat. So, unless you think walking about five miles a day (or doing an equivalent amount of exercise) with no guarantee of fat loss makes sense, focus your fat loss program on diet.

Diet for fat loss. Exercise for fitness.

What is normal in Japan?

What is normal in Japan?

Family life : Well, it varies here like it does back in the States. Traditionally (Confucian influences) you have the woman who stays at home, cleans, and takes care of the smaller children while the husband is the person who commutes to work, which can be anywhere from a 10-14 hour day. But times are changing - many young women get jobs until they are in their mid to late twenties and find husbands that way. Others get a permanent job to provide for their families. It really does depend on where you live. In (expensive) Tokyo and other cities that is very commonplace.

School life : Education is VERY important to my family and my friends' families here. Tokyo University is like Harvard back in the states - everyone wants to get into prestigious universities. The graduation exams are BRUTAL, but extracurricular activities are fun - newspaper club, reading club, kendo, karate, cooking club, sports like tennis and volleyball, and many others. We take many classes - math, science, traditional Japanese, English, cooking, phys, ed., health, etc. We must study a lot at home too and many have a pretty long commute back home by bus, walking, train, or bike.

Young life : The weekends offer a much needed rest. Many young people take the train to the city and hang out in places like Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabara, cafes, karaoke bars, etc. Music and pop culture are very important here. There is everything from anime to American artists that many young people love here. There is also the "kawaii" obsession among girls here. Fitness and attractiveness is important too - everything from gyms to whitening creams to ganguro girls.

Married life : Read what I wrote in the first section. Fact - as of a few years ago, 1/3 of marriages in Japan were arranged. They even have professional matchmakers.

Vacation : Traveling is a pasttime here. Many like to visit parts of Japan like Okinawa or maybe even other continents - most popular are Europe, the USA/Canada, South Korea, and Mexico. That's where most of my friends' families have gone.

My grandfather is getting old

My grandfather is getting old, and I'm just worried for the worst? How to accept the fact you may lose someone?

I think it depends. I mean it depends on the physical fitness, mental health condition, mental steadiness or mental stability, moral standards, intellectual brilliance, philosophical outlook, spiritual awareness, aesthetic taste, etc. of the individual. In any case, one should have the courage to face the truth. We cannot escape natural events. Please don't hesitate. What type of help you need. Is it moral help, spiritual help, intellectual help, medical help, financial help, legal help, social help, diplomatic help, divine help or what. Please be specific. Consult your beloved parents about this. They will guide you how to accept the fact.
