Banana Bread Day 2022 is on Tuesday, February 22, 2022: Storing Banana Bread?
Tuesday, February 22, 2022 is Banana Bread Day 2022. Happy National Banana Bread Day! National Banana Bread Day!
The addition of mashed, mature bananas to a cake-like batter is what provides banana bread its distinctive preference and moistness. Just what far better chance to enjoy a slice with a favorite or coffee than on Banana Bread Day?
Banana bread first began to become preferred back in the 1930 ′ s, throughout the Great Depression. Social chroniclers suggest that resourceful and creative homemakers of the time developed the recipe as a means of not losing over-ripe bananas. As a matter of fact, the riper the bananas, the much better the taste of the banana bread, so it wound up being a very brilliant development! It is commonly referred to as a "quick bread", yet is in fact a lot more like a cake in both texture and taste.
Incredibly very easy to make, banana bread is still a preferred method to swiftly bake up an unique surprise for the household. Modern-day breads additionally include the addition of chocolate chips, nuts, and even dried out fruit. Why not experiment and create a bespoke banana bread recipe that every person will love?
Every winter I make and sell many, many loaves of banana bread. When it doesn't sell too soon I freeze it, and it keeps very well. Be sure to wrap it real well with plastic wrap or aluminum foil - be sure the bread has cooled down before freezing.....ok, I know that sounds silly, but if you put it in the freezer while it is still hot it will: take forever to freeze, lower the temperature in the freezer, hurting other foods and when it is thawed it will be "mushy". I sell SLICED loaves to beauty shops (those ladies LOVE to knosh!) and you can easily slice an entire loaf, putting foil or paper between each slice and then wrapping. Then you only need to take a slice or two out of the freezer at a time - try toasting it! Next time you make it, throw a handful of Craisins into the batter. They're sooooo good!
How do you keep banana bread fresh for a few days?
In my opinion banana bread gets better with just sitting either in the pan, in plastic wrap or foil right on the counter. It stays delicious several days that way. It is very forgiving. I have a recipe used for years that I have forgotten to put eggs in, experimented with various ingredients and it is always good.
Best banana bread recipe EVER?!?
3 C. all-purpose flour
1 t. baking soda
3/4 t. salt
3 large eggs
2 C. sugar
1 1/3 C. vegetable oil
2 T. pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 C. ripe mashed banana (about 3 medium)
1 C. unsweetened shredded coconut
1 C. walnuts or pecans, toasted and finely chopped
1/2 C. buttermilk
Nonstick cooking spray
1.) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two 9x5 inch loaf pans with cooking spray; set aside. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
2.) In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the eggs, sugar, and vegetable oil on medium-low speed until combined. Beat in the flour mixture. Add the vanilla, banana, coconut, nuts, and buttermilk, and beat just to combine.
3.) Divide batter evenly between prepared pans; smooth with an offset spatula. Bake, rotating pans halfway through, until a cake tester inserted in the centers comes out clean, 60 to 65 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes. Remove loaves from pans and let cool completely. Bread can be kept at room temperature, wrapped well in plastic, for up to 1 week, or frozen for up to 3 months.
