Victoria day is held on the 3rd Monday in May to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday. In Edinburgh it has been an official holiday since at least the mid 1890's when a statue of Queen Victoria was unveiled at the Foot of Leith Walk by the Earl of Rosebery (who was prime minister at the time). QV first visited Leith in 1842 but I don't think the holiday dates back that far. It may however have started at the time of her golden jubilee in 1887.

In case you are wondering, the Port of Leith is Edinburgh's port and Leith Walk joins Edinburgh to Leith (although it is all urbanised nowadays).
