I'm thinking that no, there is not a national flute day BUT there ARE state-based flute FAIRS which are even more fun as it'd last 3 days or so! Maybe you should check google for finding a flute fair in your state and consider going with some other flute folks - it's a TON of fun!
BSRBJJRGA song of the day #71?
HIGH FIVE for posting Tuba Skinny, I love it!
BA: Dan Burley & His Skiffle Boys "South Side Shake"
Skiffle counts, doesn't it?
how can i improve on the tuba?
I like the tuba. My suggestion would be to just keep playing every day all through the Summer. Only the dedicated musicians from your school will do that. I mean, just think about it.. It only takes 30,000 hours to become a master at something.. that's 3 hours a day for 10 years. Haha 10 years from now, you'll be pro.
Back to your question, scales are really super important especially for the all-district and all county groups. Learn all your major scales and some chromatic scales as well. Breathing techniques like long tone up and down a concert Bflat scale, 8 beats each, will improve your breath support and tone.Maybe take some lessons or go to a music store and buy a solo book for the tuba and teach yourself.
I hope this helped
Good luck and happy playing!
