My Ex Wife wants me to punish our son for his behavior at her house?

U did fine just to talk to him. No punishment from u for what happens at his moms should ever happen. He's going to continue this type behavior because he wants to live with u permanently !!!!! Don't intervene, except to let him return home when his mom can't handle him !!!!! Continue to b fair and kind to their mother but don't become the whipping boy (father).

How should I disipline my step-daughter for stealing?

How should I disipline my step-daughter for stealing?

Our son had a very long struggle with theft from age seven to eight. We finally have seen some progress in his case, and he has not stolen anything recently that we know about. Consistency is key. One day he stole some gum and we found the wrappers in his room. We decided to search his room and found some of his sisters jewelry, some coins from a collection, and my WW2 submariners watch! At this point, we decided to show him how much he should appreciate what he already has. I told him that everything he has, I gladly gave to him because I love him. When he steals, he shows me disrepect and that he doesn't appreciate the wonderful blessings of the gifts I gave to him. I said, "I'm taking everything I gave to you back." I took out all of his furniture, clothes, toys, and left his room bare except for a mattress and a blanket. Then I let him play in his room for a little while. After the smoke cleared and he started getting bored, the lesson sunk in.

He earned things back one day at a time. Everyday, I asked him if he stole something today and would search his room/backpack/clothing just like he was in jail. Then I would gladly reward him with some of the stuff I had given to him and say I was happy with him. Eventually everything ended up in his room.

I'd like to say that it worked, but he stole again some time later. We used the same technique except on a lower scale. "Do I need to take all of the stuff I gave to you again?" "This time I'm taking away the Wii..." "How does it feel when people take from you?"

You can also make them pay back double when they steal. We did that, and eventually he learned stealing is actually more difficult and painful than just earning the item. You need to provide opportunities to purchase things they want, help them find ways to earn things they want with extra chores or good school behavior. Try to be positive and focus on the reward of hard work. It will take a while, but train the child for delayed gratification and it will be a tremendous asset for adult life.

Good luck, and God bless.

purple or pink converse for my daughter?

purple or pink converse for my daughter?

Ask HER.

What is her favorite color, and how old is she? What color shoes does she not have?

My grand daughter is 5, her favorite color is PINK.

Purple is my favorite color, I'd pick PURPLE. But I already have a purple shoes, & boots. I'd buy teal instead.

Buyer beware when it comes to buying shoes online, and I do not rec. using PayPal. I got screwed, took 3 years for my credit. Avoid buying shoes, on sale that states: "Final Sale No returns."

I bought 2 pair of shoes, $700 worth @ Zappos, where they have free shipping & free returns. I am a 5 1/2, so I bought a size 6. Returned them. Ordered a 5, too small. I saved $700.

I went to Nordstrom's, they're having shoe sales. Found 2 shoes, both less than $300. Both were rated as 'best comfortable shoes for walking'. BTW: I wore one of the boots for 4 hours, and I didn't even do that much walking, mostly standing on the same spot . . . . and I was already limping. I took it back the following day! I found the perfect boots, from Piperline, finally after 4 tries! I found a second pair @ Clark's, just next door to our hotel room in Spain, most comfortable boots in the world!

My son bought a pair of Nike beach sandals. They didn't come in his size, so he bought the one larger. They weren't sold in stores! He was walking around sandals too big, only because he didn't want to pay for return shipping and re-stocking fees.

Try different sizes. Not all size-8 shoes fit the same, even from one designer.

Walk on an uncarpeted surface. This is the only way to test how shoes will feel when pounding the pavement. Shoes that are good for some, may hurt your feet. Just saying!

Example from YA! member: "Well, I bought these dr marten boots and as we all know that European footwear is sized different from American shoe sizing they kinda hurt my feet."
