I have social anxiety to and have to deal with high school. It's not that bad really except for when I am alone in a class or am going to lunch, then I have anxiety so bad I feel like my stomach is going to implode. I chew gum to try and take my mind off of things, and sometimes try and remind myself that being quiet and being a deep thinker has its positives too, but you know, not when you're trying to find a place to sit at lunch with a room full of 400 kids you don't know >.< Well, I am just hoping this year will be a better one. Today was my first day, tomorrow's the second. I don't really know how to cope, to be honest. My parents are making me a doctors appointment to see a therapist and they'll probably have me on meds too. Anyway, social anxiety sucks balls. I hate how it severely takes the fun out of life sometimes. The best advice I can give is to embrace who you are, even if you have to stand alone. Remember that high school is only a short period of time compared to the rest of your life. Theirs a whole new world out there you have yet to see and explore. So, well focus on your studies and remember that if you screw up today, nobody will remember it tomorrow, and tomorrow is a new day so... let it go! Move one, and tell yourself today I'm going to try harder. Gradually expose yourself to social situations, even if your face does get red, you stumble whatever may happen, its going to be OK! (I know this sounds like hell to someone with SA but it has to be done,) Honestly, its only a minuscule part of time out of the rest of your life. I could live a hermit and not step a foot out of my comfort zone for the rest of my life, but I'm not going to get anywhere or grow stronger. You and I are going through this for a reason, and after the pain and struggle's over with we can say it did make us stronger, and overcome social anxiety. Seriously though, it does suck specially in high school.
If you ever want to talk, please email me! I'd love to talk to somebody else with social anxiety so maybe we could help each other out or what ever. It'd just be nice to have someone to talk to(:
Anyway, best of luck to you, just don't give up hope!!!
Is school "that" important for a future IT man?
i think you should still go to school and do your best if u cant be bothered to study then only learn for major tests or projects, cuz they are important. if u want to go to the it field then u should study more on chemistry and physics cuz my uncle went that route and on a job interview he was asked how his chemistry was and he got a d so he didnt get the job, bascically do the subjects that r important but the ones that dont matter do average.
