One Day Without Shoes Day 2018 is on Sunday, April 15, 2018: good idea for Toms: One day without shoes?
Sunday, April 15, 2018 is One Day Without Shoes Day 2018. blog One Day Without Shoes.
It’s super easy to consider footwear as a given – however, many people, and lots of children on the planet don’t own or get access to footwear. Consider just how much footwear allow you to travel, traverse uneven terrain, and also to take proper care of your ft and go without footwear on One Day Without Shoes Day to exhibit your understanding of and support for individuals who don’t get access to this type of simple but important bit of clothing.
I've got a great idea for you. When I was in junior high school a bunch of girls got together to try to get away with going barefoot in school. Someone came up with using 1/4" elastic band to go around our ankles, and another piece from the front of our ankles to our second toe. Then another ring of elastic around our toe. We put some decorative daisies on the part by the toe and the ankle to make them look legitimately like sandals. We got away with it for a few classes, but got discovered later in the day. But it was fun to try, anyway.
If you don't want to use the elastic, you could buy some face or body paint and just paint the decorations on. Or buy Henna Tattoo products and decorate your feet with it instead of your hands.
Have a lot of fun with this!

On April 8th, my friends and I are going barefoot for One Day Without Shoes. It might be cold, it'll probably be uncomfortable, and our feet will certainly get dirty, but by doing so, we’ll help raise awareness of the impact a simple pair of shoes can bring to a child’s life. One Day Without Shoes is an annual event hosted by TOMS Shoes in which students, friends, parents, strangers, and co-workers host or join barefoot events. Some go barefoot for an hour, some for the whole day, but all become a part of a greater movement toward change. Your involvement will captivate and educate [this community // this school], and impact the lives of children around the world. Did you know most children in developing countries grow up barefoot? Did you know some children walk barefoot for miles each day, and they can often not attend school without proper footwear? In Ethiopia, approximately 1 million people are suffering from a debilitating disease called podoconiosis, which is 100% preventable with basic hygiene and shoes.
Oklahoma State Senators Andrew Rice and Steve Russell joined us in 2009 by declaring One Day Without Shoes a state-recognized holiday. In their suits and ties, they kicked off their shoes and inspired their fellow State senators to participate... and they're doing it again this year.
If you could change the lives of children with a simple gesture, would you do for one day, what millions do everyday?
This April 8th, please lead by example by going barefoot, and help mobilize [community // school] to be a part of One Day Without Shoes.
Start at OneDayWithoutShoes.com and RSVP to join us on April 8th.
