12 CHINESE ZODIAC includes: Rat,Ox,Rabbit,Monkey,Dog,Horse,Tiger,Pig,Goat,Snake,Rooster and a DRAGON?
The dragon is sometimes viewed in the West as a national emblem of China.Firstly, this is because the dragon was the sign of the Emperor, and was on the national flag of the late Qing dynasty.Chinese dragons are strongly associated with water in popular belief. They are believed to be the rulers of moving bodies of water, such as waterfalls, rivers, or seas. They can show themselves as water spouts (tornado or twister over water). In this capacity as the rulers of water and weather, the dragon is more anthropomorphic in its form, often depicted as a humanoid, dressed in a king's costume, but with a dragon head wearing a king's headdress.
It is said that 2 dragons, v long ones, (dont know names) , best friends, had a fight, and went opp ways. while they were going, their bodies made long, deep holes, which were filled with water, and known as rivers later.
Chinese dragon evolved to become a mythical animal. By the Han Dynasty, the dragon's appearance is described as having a body of a snake; the scales and tail of a fish; the antlers of a stag; the face of a camel; and two pairs of talons of eagles; ears of a bull; feet of a tiger and the eyes of a demon. It has a flaming pearl under its chin. Chinese dragons are occasionally depicted with bat-like wings growing out of the front limbs, but most do not have wings.
This description accords with the artistic depictions of the dragon down to the present day. By this time, the dragon has also acquired a wide range of super-natural powers. It is said to be able to disguise itself as a silkworm, or be so large that it covers the sky. It can fly among the clouds or hide in water (Guanzi). It can form clouds, can turn into water or fire, can become invisible or glow in the dark (Shuowen Jiezi).
There are four major Dragon Kings, one representing each of the four seas, being the East Sea (corresponding with the East China Sea), South Sea (corresponding with the South China Sea), West Sea (sometimes seen as the Indian Ocean and beyond), and North Sea (sometimes seen as Lake Baikal).
what places would you recommend visiting in Costa Rica - total of 8 days in the country?
Costa Rica has sooo much to offer, why stay at only one place -
discover several places in one week!
How much you can see or do, really depends on how you will be travelling around: rented vehicle, seat-in bus (tourist door to door shuttle service) or public transportation.
Costa Rica looks small, but the transfer times can sometimes be long and complicated, so it is best to make a plan ahead of time to make the most of your stay.
You should not miss the active volcanoes, rainforest and of course the beach. And you have many activities you can do at each place you stay at: canopy tour, rafting or rappel if you like adventure, boat trips, rainforest hikes and birdwatching tours if you like it more calm.... contact an expert that can give you the best ideas.
Here is an example of a cool round trip for 8 days with the seat in bus. Contact a local travel agency if you have any questions. I recommend www.tropicalpass.com
DAY 1Arrival in Costa Rica
Arrival in Costa Rica and seat in bus transfer to the hotel.
DAY 2San José – Tortuguero
Departure from San José early morning. Breakfast stop on the way to Tortuguero. You will cross the Braulio Carrillo National Park until you reach Matina or Caño Blanco. At the embarking point, you will take a boat that will bring you to your hotel.
In the afternoon you will visit the village of Tortuguero, the beach area and the small Green Turtle Information Center.
DAY 3Tortuguero National Park – San José
Early birds will have the opportunity to take a boat ride through the canals of the Tortuguero National Park. Tortuguero is one of the most important nesting sites for Chelonias Mydas (green sea turtle); whereas its forest and waterways are home for endangered mammals such as sloths, monkeys, agoutis, coati-mundis and manatees. About 309 different species of birds have been seen in Tortuguero. Some of the most known and beautiful are toucans, trogons, egrets, herons, and anhingas. Discover also crocodiles, turtles and butterflies, including the great blue morpho.
After this amazing ride in the swamp forest of Tortuguero, you will go back to the hotel for breakfast and prepare for the departure to San José. Once again, a boat will take you to the embarking point and the bus will drive you to your hotel in the city.
DAY 4San José – La Fortuna de San Carlos
Seat in bus transfer to La Fortuna de San Carlos by the Arenal Volcano.
Afternoon excursion to the Arenal Volcano National Park and the Hot Springs, where you can relax in the soothing warm waters surrounded by exotic ecological gardens.
DAY 5La Fortuna de San Carlos – Sámara Beach
Transfer from La Fortuna de San Carlos to Sámara Beach.
Sámara Beach is the perfect long white sand beach with shallow, gentle waters. Sámara has a superb coral reef and its own picturesque wooded island in the bay ~ Isla Chora. It's popular with swimmers and windsurfers, and it's an ideal beach for your kids.
Sámara is not only a charming beach, with a wide choice of friendly and attractive hotels, restaurants, bars and discos, but unlike other Pacific Ocean resorts, it is also a thriving fishing and farming community.
There are cowboys and cattle drives, fishing boats returning at sunset, exotic fruit harvests, specialty and organic farming, tree nurseries and reforestation projects and many other authentic and vital Sámara activities.
There are unusual plant and animal species, ancient Indian sites, underwater caves and coastal and mountain nature trails. And there is even a Sámara art gallery with its own resident artists.
DAY 6Sámara Beach
Day at leisure to enjoy the beach and the hotel facilities.
DAY 7Sámara Beach – San José
Transfer back from Sámara Beach to San José.
DAY 8Departure from Costa Rica
