I congratulate you on acknowledging that facing tougher players is the key to improving your game. ISC is a great place to hone your skills. You don't say where you live, but have you tried attending an official Scrabble club in your area? The link below will help you locate a club.

Another tip -- while the bingo bonus is valuable, non-bingo racks can score significantly too, if you make a habit of scrutinizing scoring hotspots on the board, and watch for opportunities to extend words already played. Great resources for game strategy incclude the book "Everything Scrabble" by two-time national champ Joe Edley, and from our club's website, Steve Pellinen's 8-chapter tutorial on ascending the ranks.

Try using "game time" to motivate kids. Games can be educational, of course. I am a tournament Scrabble player and School Scrabble was started at least five years ago. You can visit thew website of the National Scrabble Association, clicking on the link for School Scrabble. You can order a kit to get started. Philadelphia also offers Scrabble through their public library system.

Consider other games such as: Carmen San Diego, chess and any others that you find appealing as listed in a book on board games which you will find at the library.

how many of you play educational board games? How do you feel about these compared to computer games?

I prefer board games to computer games.

I have variety of educational board games for all levels with having to rely on the mass market boardgames. I do not have trouble because of Boardgamegeeks, National Board Game Week ( The forth week of November), and several publications (I really don't have them with me right now) that list the level, age group, subject matter (math, science, history, geography, etc.. )

For myself, ALL boardgames are hard to find.
