Is there such thing as the "four bases" in dating? if so what are they ?

These are the standard bases when adolescent boys brag (or lie) about their sexual conquests. Gentleman don't discuss it. Like all slang, there are variations between high schools. Lots of boys will call oral sex "third base" these days.

Getting to first base is kissing.

Second base is fondling the lady's breasts.

Third base is fondling her crotch.

The final stage is intercourse, but no one says they "hit a home run". They call it "going all the way" or "scoring", terms you often hear in radio broadcasts of baseball games.

Did preident Coolidge’s at-home life affect his political life?

Did preident Coolidge's at-home life affect his political life?

Yes !!!

Dour sour Calvin Coolidge was one of those 'geeks' who snagged a pretty wife, a 'modern' woman who smoked (back then that was a sign of progress), she had the wit & charm, and so she smoothed over any possible opposition to her husband, Grace made her husband accessible, in this sense she was a very modern woman paving the way for future spouses who were 'nicer' than their Presidential Husbands.

Coolidge's at home played out as tragedy as well. Though Coolidge was popular in 1928 and could have easily earned a second term as Perez, he was depressed and unhappy following the death of his son from a simple accident that led to blood poisoning. Therefore yes indeed Coolidge's home life affected not only Coolidge but the Nation.

Before the son's death, the fact that Coolidge's children were in their twenties they helped keep Dad in touch with the 'kids' view of important matters in America.

""Grace endeared herself to the American people by heartily embracing cultural trends that had become popular during the 1920s. Notwithstanding her husband's proscriptions about her style of dress, Grace embraced some of the fashions of the era, even becoming a fashion trendsetter, shortening her skirts and wearing more loose-fitting clothing. Grace was also a sports enthusiast, like most Americans during the interwar years. She hiked or walked every day and particularly loved baseball, having taught the game to her sons while her husband was away pursuing his political career. As First Lady, she attended the home games of the Washington Nationals and enjoyed a front row seat at the 1925 World Series. And as Hollywood mesmerized the American public with its "moving pictures," movie buff Grace Coolidge invited screen actors and actresses such as Tom Mix, John Barrymore, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, and Al Jolson to the White House. She also entertained aviator Charles Lindbergh, who had captivated the world in 1927 with his transatlantic flight.

The First Lady's fashions, love of sports, and her associations with the stars of the stage, screen, and air were not lost on the public. Though she never spoke to reporters or journalists, the press loved Grace and regularly featured her in their stories. Though her husband demanded her silence, he did not insist that she be invisible and allowed photographers to snap pictures of her. Photos of the First Lady planting a tree, receiving a gift, or attending a ceremony appeared regularly in the many mass-circulation magazines that began to inundate the public in the 1920s. As the journals featured Grace, they also drew attention to her public activities outside the White House, and the American public grew to expect that the First Lady would -- and should -- mingle with the people. As a result, future First Ladies would no longer be able to conduct their social duties from a White House receiving line.

Grace was aware of the power her position afforded. At one point during her tenure, she wrote, "Daily I am impressed anew with the responsibility and opportunity which has been given me. In no sense does it overwhelm me, rather does it inspire me and increase my energy and I am so filled with the desire to measure up." Measure up she did, by using her publicity to draw attention to issues she considered important. Having taught at the Clarke School for the Deaf prior to her marriage, she used her position to promote further education of the deaf and to draw attention to the general welfare of the disabled. Though she never spoke out on this issue or on others important to her -- issues such as women's voting and education, child welfare, and health care -- her visible support of these matters brought them national attention.

Grace Coolidge also used her popularity to secure a historical legacy for the White House. She directed yet another renovation of the presidential mansion and met with curators to achieve a more authentic style for the historical building. To that end, she worked to secure historic pieces and original furnishings that had been removed from the mansion over time, including Abraham Lincoln's bed. In addition, she urged Congress to pass a measure that would allow the White House to accept donations of period furnishings. She also had a sun room built over the south portico, expanded the White House gardens, and constructed a pond.

For all that Grace Coolidge was and for all that she had done as First Lady, it is not surprising that the American people were thrilled to have her in the White House. But the constant strain of a public life, made worse by private troubles, had begun to wear on the First Lady as early as 1924. That year her younger son, Calvin Jr., died from blood poisoning. Her grief, the unrelenting press, endless social duties, a painful sinus condition, and her husband's heart conditio
