There really is no way of being able to predict how the job market is going to shift in the next 5-6 years. If there is, then that person is getting paid a lot of money in Washington.

If I were to choose. I think I would choose the chef career path. From a personal stand point, it would give me a more settled secure feeling. Rather than an international translator who would most likely have to travel often, and not have as much time for a family as well as deal with all the turmoil of international affairs that have been going on. However, if having a family and settling down in a specific area for 5-20 years doesn't sound like your thing, and you want to travel the world, I would pursue the international route.
