Well, really the 4th is not independence day.
It was the day that congress declared independence
from Britain. The revolutionary war was what determined
our independence from Britain - when our country won
the war.
Why is Independence Day usually called the Fourth of July?
I guess it's one of those things that someone came up with and it just stuck
Or some people are either to lazy or think it's too silly to say "Happy Independence day" it's easier to say "Happy 4th of July" and easier to type without making a spelling mistake
