Is this common courtesy or am I disrespectful?

It is common courtesy to call before you stop in to visit someone. But requiring a few days notice seems excessive. How about if she called the night before? Or better, if you caller her and invited her for lunch one day this weekend.

It sounds like you and your boyfriend are quite busy, and letting your mother into your life might be a big help to everyone. It's isn't OK that your daughter is growing up not knowing her grandmother. Loosen up a little and see if you can work out a better system with mom.
