Heavy Duty Cleaning Your Refrigerator
We will not talk about how it got to the state that it is in, only on how to get through it. Here are some steps to consider when your refrigerator needs heavy-duty cleaning!
Start by removing everything from the refrigerator. You should try to store the food in a cooler or another refrigerator if you think the project will take you a while. Turn off the light bulb and raise the temperature if there is not food stored in it.
Next, remove all of the removable things such as the shelves and drawers. You will want to thoroughly wash them in your sink later.
Next, use a terry cloth, dish detergent and a bit of scrubbing to wash down everything inside. In this method, you will be trying to remove any and all debris that you can. You’ll come back again to sanitize after you get the grime out. Make sure to get into all of the seams, edges and any other hidden areas.
Next, use a sanitizing solution or you can just use a clean cloth to wipe down everything a second time. This will insure that there are no germs lurking. Take dry paper towels to dry off the inside of the refrigerator as well.
Wash down the drawers and shelves thoroughly, paying attention to the details. Use dish detergent to do so and rinse them well. Allow them to air dry or dry them with a paper towel.
Now you can reassemble the fridge, turn it back on the right temperature and load the food back in. Now, just maintain it.
You should give your refrigerator a thorough cleaning at least every few months or depending on the need that it has. You can keep it smelling good too by placing a fresh box of baking soda in it. Make sure to clean up spills as needed, keep the storage bins neat and clean and dispose of old food quickly. Don’t forget to watch the expiration dates!
