Need a big esky for my party. What about the ute? Would it work?
A bathtub, fridge turned on the side and shelves taken out or laundry tubs from the tip or tip shop would work well (you could paint them if you want.), or buy 100ltr plastic garbage bins or inflatatble kids pools. I don't think the ute idea would be a good one because it would be too large and difficult to get drinks from. Break up some of the ice and make a slurry (icey water) but leave ice in bags as well to make it last longer, you may also go to your local ice works and get block ice.
Pool Party?
Pool, food, 30 kids. Sounds like they will have fun without any planned games. Play fairly loud music in the background. I found a bunch of pool toys at Dollar Tree - the long noodles and water guns. The little $1.00 "water basketball" hoop was not worth the dollar, though. Little water-toy footballs, etc. I'd stay away from the water balloons - they may clog up the drain and you'd be picking up the broken ones all day. Have a LARGE beach ball to toss around the pool.
Try to find some little bathtub duckies (I found only one package at Dollar Tree which had 6 ducks in the party favor aisle) but if you had a bunch of them, you could put numbers on the bottoms of them and float them all over the pool and give away prizes based on the numbers, or have duck races where they have to move the duck along without touching it - just splashing, etc.
Food - you're right you don't want a bunch of trash left over. How about BBQ chicken nuggets without bones, popsicles, ice cream, watermelon (ooooo - seed spitting contest in the driveway), sno-cones? Chips & dip. Hot dogs.
