Question about adopting a dog from a shelter?

The shelter I adopted my dog from didn't even ask if I had other dogs or pets at home. I know that my shelter will allow you to bring your dog to meet the new dog, but they don't require it. Different shelters may require different things - could you call ahead and find out what their policies are?

You can't adopt a Shelter pet unless you are 21 years or older. If your mother agrees to adopting a dog, the dog will be legally here's as the papers will be signed in her name.

Adopting wont save you money, some adoption fees in shelters are very expensive, and dogs can cost up to a grand per year in emergency vet bills.

Not all dogs in shelters have had a bad start in life, some are handed in due to change in personal circumstances, and their perfectly fine. Shelter dogs who have had a bad start in life take a hell of a lot of time to come around from their Experince, their usually terrified and won't trust you which is why mist shelters refuse to adopt out shelter dogs to family's with children as the dogs are petrified.

They also can cost a lot of money in trading and scolaising classes, and most shelter animals often have a few medical issues which need go be treated by a vet - again, very expensive.

The majority of shelters now a days are no kill shelters, which means they have a no-kill Policy, there are few kill shelters but the majority of the dogs that end up here are sometimes saved, when others are not so lucky.

Don't be selfish, Be happy with what you have, Shelter dogs take a lot of time and money, some thing that you as a child cannot provide. There's no point in adopting an animal of you can't provide for their needs, I know you mean well, but you'd be doing more bad than good.

Money cannot be easily replaced - your mother has to work long hours to provide for teh animals yiu already have, while at the same time feeding you and keeping a roof over your head. Your a child, you really have no clue about the real world.

Animal rescues will often make you jump through hoops, but animal shelters are generally pretty easy to adopt from.

No matter what you do: do NOT go to a pet store. Pet store puppies come from puppy mills, and those are not the sort of places you want to be supporting.
